Programs

The Royal Textile Academy after the completion of its construction project will consist of four main components. Three program division namely; The Textile School, The Textile Museum, The Textile Conservation Centre and One Central Administrative Division. 

1. The Textile School:

The Royal Textile Academy School will be a unique institution in Bhutan where Students will be trained in traditional weaving, the art of yarn dyeing and contemporary skills related to fashion design, business and career management.

2.  The Textile Museum:

The RTA will also establish a state of art museum to display its collection of textile artifacts to further the understanding of Bhutan’s rich textile traditions. Through this museum, the RTA will create opportunities to educate individuals interested in a career as museum professionals.

3.  The Textile Conservation Centre:

The RTA will be the first institution in the country that will professionaly educate the Bhutanese in internationally accepted methods and techniques of conservation and preservation of the priceless textiles and other artifacts.

4. The Central Administrative Division:

The Administrative Division will consist of staff that will manage, organize and administer the various programs, on and off the site, of the Academy. 

For its sustenance, the RTA will also manage an outdoor special events area, a cafeteria and a gift shop. The gift shop in particular will serve as an outlet for the products produced by the students from the Textile School
